PC Products are made from the Pith & Chaff portions of the corncob.
Corncob Pellets
Corncob Pellets - The pith and chaff portions of the corncob are extremely absorbent – about 300% on a weight-to-weight basis. However, those portions are light and fluffy (about 8 lbs. / cubic foot) and that makes them extremely difficult to handle and store. Consequently, we compress those components using a pellet mill and that increases the bulk density to about 45 pounds / cubic foot. Some corncob pellets are used as a composting media for growing mushrooms. Most of our pellets are re-ground to create particles similarly sized to grit particles.
